In the Winter of 2015 Olivet Baptist Church expand our relationship with Child Evanglism Fellowship beyond a one-week Vacation Bible School partnership. Together we decided to embark upon a courageous and exciting outreach effort to reach unchurch children and their families by hosting a "Good News Club" at Sarah Roach Elementary School. The following year we establish a second club at Mary Rodman Elementary School. Still desiring to do more we started a third club at Alexander Hamilton Elementary School.
2016-17 Olivet Baptist Church recruited over 150 students into the "Good News Club" to memorize Scripture, learn bible stories, sing songs that teach about being a Christian while playing games and winning prizes. Every after-school session includes refreshments plus occasional parties. The "Good News Club" is one of the best and strongest evangelistic activities hosted by Olivet Baptist Church on a weekly basis. We are already seeing the evidence of our labor as more and more of the children and their families participate in our Vacation Bible School (VBS) and Sunday school classes, as well as Morning Worship. Prayerfully, God will continue to add the increase as we minister to unchurch children and their family by introducing them to Jesus Christ and the Bible.
Due to the pandemic we are evaluating how to proceed for the next school year 2020-2021.
The primary purpose of the "Good News Club" is to introduce elementary aged children to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Bible.
